Pete, I have not pulled the table. Had to play with the PB. Yep, it is a mill and most of what I found I expected. The screws are old, go figure. I can’t call it backlash when the table can move 1/8 to 3/16 in spots. I work on the table ends right now. I have the head apart to change the low gear bearings.
For those that don’t know the lower bearing sits in a well that everything from the low gear collects. The bottom side of the bearing sits in this needless to say I found my little clicking, bad bearing.
The table is coming off next as I just got done building a jib to do just this. Latter the jib will be used to put parts, and Eq on the mill. One of the rotary tables weighs in over 200#.

The shop I have talked to about buying a DRO, tried to sell me an old take-off DRO. When you have that funny feeling that you are about to screwed, you need to look around for the joker smiling. I was not impressed by their work but got to see a tear down of a BP and what they called a rebuild. Mostly clean, paint, and tighten.0002 is a good target for me, the install should be easy as one was installed on my BP in the past. Thanks for all input. Any other good DROs Please post! Anyways here's a link to pics of my Fray rebuild. Hopefully some of them will be useful. One major caveat, Bridgeports have big heavy pieces that can seriously injure you or someone else if you do not use proper lifting equipment and/or procedures.

I looked at the website. They have a TDS-3i DRO package that has and LCD readout versus the 8-character LED readout on many other units. They seem to have the same glass scales as everyone else.
Is the LCD a big benefit over the LED readout?I have this unit. I wanted the LCD because I didn't want to have to remember a bunch of cryptic codes or abreviations that would fit in the LED readout. I'm happy with it.
The price was good, I bought it on ebay. The seller had great communication. The instruction manual is rather pointless, but operation is the same as all the other chinese units.so after reading some other manuals, I've got it down pretty good. I generally just use it for bolt circles and table location.haven't got into the other features yet, but it works well.
